My preparedness to Conduct Comprehensive and Focused Assessments of Health and Illness
From the assessments, I learned that I should not make a mistake of conducting individual health needs of patients and assume that they reflect those of groups or a given community. To avoid a top-down approach to offering community health services, I shall endeavor to distinguish individual, group and community health needs. My focus will be to assess the needs of the community under consideration by using the various methods that are discussed in detail in one of my art facts titled Health Assessment and Communication.
Patient Safety, Clinical Management, and Quality Improvement to Improve Patient Outcomes
Safety targets to keep the patients and the staff safe. To achieve this, the institutions must have a top management position that is dedicated to maintaining safety to patients by providing a culture and environment that supports safety. The multidisciplinary approach may help with specific roles being assigned to various departments like nursing, pharmacy, quality improvement and administration. Building a non-punitive culture where error reporting and tracking are taken seriously which is consistent with quality improvement.
Use of EBP Practices Promoting Health
Acknowledging that most safety concerns arise from medication errors, there is every need that EBP is employed to improve safety. Technology is one such tool that minimizes the instances of error because it allows a seamless flow of information in the process. The use of computerized order entry (CPOE) which ensures that the order is eligible and includes all information like dosage, dose, and the route is important in reducing medical errors. Role of Policy, Finance, and Regulatory Environments
Having studied and researched on the various regulatory and professional requirements towards achieving the safety of the patients, I shall strive to uphold the professional code of conduct and applying evidence-based practice, prompt medical error-reporting and offer culturally sensitive nursing care. Improvement of quality of care and patient safety can be done by not only adhering to the regulations but also making changes to the design like controlling the various spaces to prevent infections. The built environment is a critical aspect of patient safety and this is discussed in details in my document titled Policy and Organizational Behavior.
Effective Communication with all Members of a Team
Effective communication among members of an interdisciplinary team is a critical aspect of positive health outcomes. I have learned that communication can be the difference between tragic consequences and satisfaction for the patients and care providers. Keeping an open communication policy and being respectful and showing senses of emotional maturity are essential for a successful collaboration.
Knowledge of Organizational Behavior, Nursing Theory, and Systems
The nursing model, that developed by Johnson lays emphasis on research to improve patient care. This model singles out the role of nursing care in the behavioral system of the human being. The role of the environment in affecting the behavior of the patient is given the importance by the model. This, therefore, requires that the nursing environment supports the healing of the patients. The organization must develop the culture of a systems approach where the different components work together for the common goal.
Understanding of the Concepts of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
To offer health promotion services to a community requires working in an interdisciplinary team. It is necessary that during the planning of the tactic to be used by the team, the community is engaged to establish the needs of the individuals, groups and the entire community. Applying community engagement ensures that the participation levels are increased, and more ownership of the project. The method is more transparent and has a greater accountability for the resources dedicated to the project. Holistic, Caring, Culturally Appropriate Nursing Approach that Contributes to the Wellness and Health
When providing nursing care, I have understood that it must be holistic and especially one that is culturally sensitive. It is important to understand that the communities are not mono-ethnic and that people have different religious and cultural beliefs. The nursing care must take into account these differences in the belief systems. In my practice, I shall also check to ensure that I take note of any alternative medicine and determine if it does conform to the conventional methods and include it if it does.

The nurses have a responsibility to act in the best interests of the patient under their care. To be a successful representative of the client requires that the nurse upholds professional and ethical standards. This requires that the nurse holds the interest of the patient before those of self. Being respectful and courteous during the interaction and having an open communication is critical in building a trusting nurse-patient relationship. The nurse must know the legal and ethical requirements especially those concerning the privacy of the patient’s confidential data and records.
Holistic Approach to Local, Regional, National, and Local Dynamics in Nursing and Health Care System Delivery
The programs and skills explained above can be applied from the individual level to group, community, local, national and global levels. It is only a few adjustments that need to be made to ensure that the population under consideration relates to the health promotion techniques. The most important aspect is internalizing the dynamics of a community and developing a strategy that considers all the factors that impact health.
