The purpose of essay 2 is for you to explore in depth an obstacle or problem that you’ve believe that people of color and/or poor people are faced with. The problem can be one that was directly or indirectly mentioned in Just Mercy. It can also be a problem that is not mentioned in Just Mercy but related to the issues in Just Mercy.

Your assignment is to write a 1,000 -1,200 word essay that focuses on one obstacle to success identified by one of our readings. In your essay, you need to do the following:

Contextualize the obstacle/problem (Start from our readings & society)
Define the obstacle/problem in detail
Show that it exists
Argue for its importance (why should we care about this problem?)
This will probably require a discussion of causes/effects

Additional Requirements:

Two sources (See your Annotated Bibliography)
Between 2-3 logically sandwiched and appropriately cited sources from Just Mercy and another source
Paraphrase (more likely appropriate) vs quotation
